Why Running Ads Without a Funnel Is a Waste of Money

I’m going to say this once, clearly:
If you’re running ads without a funnel, you’re not “testing marketing” —you’re burning cash like an idiot.
No strategy. No structure. No path to money.
Just vibes and hope.
And hope doesn’t pay the bills.
Ads Don’t Make You Money. Funnels Do.
Ads are not magic.
They don’t “just work.”They don’t “figure it out over time.”They don’t turn likes into revenue by accident.
Ads are just traffic.
And if that traffic has nowhere to go,you’re paying for people to look at your shit…and leave.
Congrats. Meta wins. You lose.
Restaurants: Stop Sending Ad Traffic to Your Profile (Seriously)
This one pisses me off the most.
If you’re a restaurant running ads that say:
“Visit our Instagram”
“Check out our page”
“See our food”
Stop. Just stop.
That is the dumbest way to spend ad money.
People don’t open Instagram to follow restaurants. They open it hungry, bored, and impatient.
If your ad doesn’t lead directly to:
Online ordering
A menu with an ORDER NOW button
A reservation page
A limited-time food offer
Then what the fuck are you doing?
Likes don’t sell burgers.Followers don’t sell pizza.Comments don’t sell shit.
Orders do.
Awareness Is a Bullshit Excuse
Every business says:
“We’re just building awareness right now.”
No.You’re avoiding structure because structure requires thinking.
Awareness without action is useless.
If someone clicks your ad and lands on:
A profile
A feed
A bio link with 15 random buttons
You already lost them.
Attention spans are short.Decision time is shorter.
Give them ONE action or get the hell out of the way.
No Funnel = No Direction = No Sales
A funnel answers ONE simple question:
“What do I want this person to do next?”
Most businesses don’t know.
So their funnel looks like this:
Ad → Profile → Scroll → Leave
That’s not a funnel. That’s a fucking dead end.
A real funnel looks like:
Ad → Offer → Order / Book / Buy → Done
No confusion. No thinking. No wasted clicks.
You’re Also Targeting the Wrong Damn People
Another huge reason your ads suck?
You’re targeting:
Entire cities you don’t even serve
People 20–40 miles away
Tourists
“Engagement” audiences that never buy anything
So yeah, your post gets likes.
From people who will never step into your business.
Looks great in screenshots.Does nothing for revenue.
Engagement Campaigns Attract Broke Scrollers
Let’s clear this up:
Engagement ≠ intentLikes ≠ salesComments ≠ customers
When you optimize for engagement, Meta finds:
People who like to like
People who comment on everything
People who never pull out their wallet
Meta is doing exactly what you asked.
If you want buyers, you need:
Proper objectives
Tight location targeting
Clear offers
A funnel that actually converts
Why Most Businesses Say “Ads Don’t Work”
Ads work.
What doesn’t work is:
Sending traffic to nowhere
Running ads without a goal
Targeting the wrong areas
Optimizing for ego metrics
Expecting Meta to fix bad structure
Meta isn’t broken.
Your setup is just shit.
The Hard Truth (Read This Carefully)
If your ads aren’t tied directly to:
An offer
A funnel
A conversion
A measurable action
You are paying for noise.
And noise doesn’t make money.
